I always love the start to a new week/new month/etc. I’ll use any excuse for a fresh start any time. After a couple of days in a row of sunshine and spending time outdoors, I am feeling a new wave of motivation to try new things and make smart choices.
You all know by now that Old Faithful Old Navy is one of my favorites places for all things, and one of those things is their Athletic Wear – all for a great price. All of their site is 30% off right now, with up to 50% activewear too!
I snagged this hat the moment I saw it!
and the back is even super cute!!!
Dirty gym hair really does look better (don’t worry I shower, just don’t wash wash my hair every time). I just dry the sweat and spray in some of this dry shampoo, run my curling wand through, and it’s honestly better than Friday night clean hair! And no one will be the wiser that your hair is absolutely filthy and 90% dry shampoo!
:: 31 Day Challenge ::
Back in February I did my second 31 Day Challenge which consists of 31 consecutive days of exercise and loved it just as much as when I did it in 2017. (well…. 95% of the time, just a few times I wanted nothing less than to move). March I eased off the cardio (spin) and I have been in studios less often and instead have been doing more workouts at home. Travel + visitors limited my spin classes (slash without the “31 Day” thing, I wasn’t motivated to do early morning workouts. I still hate mornings. It didn’t change that at all. And then if I couldn’t make it to spin on time, I’d just work out at home.)
The 31 Day Challenge did what I had hoped it would do (and what it did last time!) which was get me better at planning my schedule, waking up earlier a few days a week, and realizing that there is *always* time to do something – anything – even if it is a short at home YouTube workout or a long walk! And it took off the extra added Holiday weight, too.
It did not, as I always hope it will miraculously make me do, be better with sleeping, weekend eating + cocktails, etc.
So….. I really should try do to a challenge *unrealted* to fitness because that is something I already enjoy. I should do one where I have to shut it all down by 10 PM or wake up at a certain time for 30 days but that sounds NO FUN AT ALL so therefore….. ummm….. probably not gonna do it. (I am SUCH a hypocrite ……)
See this post for what committing to 31 days can do!
(It’s all mind over matter…..)
Any secrets to actually waking up to the 72 alarms that go off every morning that I snooze until the absolute last minute?
I mean, truly, I don’t know if it will ever. ever. ever. happen where I am okay with mornings.
Because you know what feels better than getting up and working out in the morning?
SLEEPING.
SLEEPING FEELS BETTER.
A LOT BETTER.
:: Barre 3 ::
I went and tried a new workout class! My girlfriend has been going to Barre3 classes since having her baby and loves it.
I loved that the class incorporated more cardio than Pure Barre does and that it was more high energy. I’ve only gone once so I need to go a couple more times to really get the hang of it, but the teacher could not have been sweeter or more helpful. I felt so welcome and comfortable (some studios I go to are so intimidating and I hate that!) I loved the vibes that I got! I was sore the next day (in a good way) and I am ready to go back for class number 2 this week!
When I posted this to my instagramstories I got so many messages about how many of you love Barre3 and how it has completely changed your bodies, so it was great motivation to keep going!
(seriously, if y’all still haven’t tried ClassPass – you need to! They give tons of options for starting out if you just want to do one month and see if you like it. It’s such a money saver versus boutique memberships and you get a million class options that you would never get with a gym membership. They also now have online videos to instantly stream!)
(oh, and get $40 off ClassPass with this referral link.)
:: P.Volve ::
I heard about the fitness method called P.Volve when the creator was interviewed on The Skinny Confidential Podcast. And as I have mentioned in the past, I am slightly addicted to the podcast for all things health and wellness.
Whatever, at least I admit it. Right? Right……
I’m all about trying any new fitness fad (well…. have yet to get my ass to yoga…. so….. correction: I’m all about trying anything that is easy enough TO DO especially if I can do it from my own living room.) . I was mostly intrigued because he is the trainer for many-a-Victoria’s Secret bod. And who all wouldn’t want the bod of a Victoria’s Secret model? OBVIOUSLY if I do this workout for 30 days I am going to look like this:
Right? Right…..
But in all seriousness, I am giving it a try. It’s “easy” movements in a sense that it’s all based on stretching, slow movements, and only doing the move 8 times or so before moving on.
You can get 30 days free with the code TSC30! So who’s with me?! They are easy workouts you can do in your living room and can add in easy things like Gliders, Resistance Bands, and Ankle Weights. He created some ball you strap between your legs (unfortunately, yes, you read that correctly) but I won’t be purchasing that unless I literally look like Gisele after 30 workouts.
Let me know if anyone else has tried/is going to try these P.Volve workouts!
There are sample workouts here and here,
but I usually need videos to understand so I’ll be doing the free trial.
Oh! And there’s a 35 minute workout on PopSugar!
And then I also just came across this article with his thoughts on diet, too, in case you’re interested.
(He agrees with Kelly LeVeque about not being big on snacking – stick to 3 meals per day)
:: Body by Simone ::
I have done some of Body by Simone’s dance workouts from PopSugar in the past. She reminds me of a Tracy Anderon-esque type of workout, and they can get intense!
She just released a new app yesterday, and one of my favorite nutritionist Kelly LeVeque is the nutrition side of the app! (I love Kelly’s Fab 4 Smoothies)
I think that the app is $29 per month, and you can pick how long you have to workout and what body part, etc, and get customizable meal plans to go with it. There are plenty of free Body by Simone workouts on YouTube (just google search dance cardio or her name!) as well as lots of free recipes and info from Kelly LeVeque on her blog and in her book Body Love!
Let me know any favorite classes you take or new workouts I may not know about!

I size down in most of their activewear to XS. Sometimes with compression I stay TTS with a S.
