I’m sharing a couple F-Factor approved additions that I add to my diet when I’m eating clean.
Again, always remember that I know nothing about anything except Bravo and pinot grigio and procrastinating
and am not a resource for “legit” health and nutrition.
oh….. and just wait for the food photography in today’s post. I meannnnn it’s magical.
Confession. I eat breakfast for dinner fairly regularly. By choice. Especially when my husband is traveling. Sometimes I just want something warm and comforting. And I KNOW, I know….. I talk about how much I love these damn protein pancakes all the time.
BUT there’s a new addition to them, too!
I’m in a bikini the next two weekends (and one pieces…..) so I figured an easy swap would be to try out this Fiber Syrup that I’ve heard so much about from F Factor (I follow them on instagram account and I follow a few of the nutritionists that work there too so they are always posting great food inspo.)
// MAPLE PECAN SYRUP // CHOCOLATE SYRUP // SET OF THREE SYRUPS //
Now, I already LOVE my protein pancakes with 100% pure maple syrup – which there is nothing wrong with. And do yourself a favor and toss the Aunt Jemima…. the pure maple syrup tastes SO much better and is SO much better for you!
So, THIS fiber syrup is way less sugar, but I’ll be honest – it’s not as buttery delicious as pure maple syrup. The real maple syrup is the way to go for the full flavor – and enjoy it – this is just a great option for less sugar, more fiber, and a little detox pancakes!
BUT I do actually enjoy the Caramel Flavored syrup and the BIGGER surprise, which shouldn’t be a surprise at this point, is how much more FULL these pancakes make me when I use the fiber syrup.
The amount of protein is great just from the pancakes alone because I use a scoop and a half of my protein powder (Tone It Up Protein Powder), but the bigger key to staying full is definitely FIBER.
The other positives of this syrup are (info taken from amazon) :
- No preservatives: unlike most syrup on the market, we don’t use water to dilute our syrup. This also means they’re THICK and RICH!
- We use monk fruit and fiber blend to sweeten our syrup, it contains no sugar and no sugar alcohols. Perfect for keto lifestyle and other low carb diets.
- Great for using on your breakfast foods, desserts, or beverages.
- Each syrup has 2g net carbs a serving. Low carb, GMO free, all natural. Contains no artificial sweeteners.
If you still haven’t tried these protein pancakes, it’s hands down my favorite protein pancake recipe. And they’re so easy to whip up that it’s one of my go-to’s when I’m exhausted and don’t have any food in the fridge to heat up.
I ordered the set of three syrups (caramel, chocolate, and maple pecan) to try them out to see what I would like. For me, I wasn’t nuts about the caramel, which I had thought would be my favorite. The maple pecan was my favorite. I heat it up a little bit (definitely heat it up) and it is so, so good on the pancakes. And I do like the chocolate too – just not as much for my pancakes.
I think the chocolate works best for adding fiber to weeknight treats like almond butter cookies.
But really, whether it’s with low sugar/low carb syrup or the 100% pure maple syrup buttery goodness, try the pancake recipe. It’s my fav.
OH! And I also found a homemade, four ingredient syrup recipe when I was googling that seems great!
It’s from WholesomeYum – maybeeeeee (?) I’ll give that a try in the future, but I own none of the necessary ingredients and the Honest Syrup seems to be clean enough for me?!
::::::: Detox Dessert :::::::::
My newest detox dessert for the week takes two seconds to whip up and satisfies my sweet craving.
This literally isn’t even a recipe and it’s so stupid to be sharing, but I’m hooked on it lately soooo thought I would.
Again, this is when CLEAN EATING, not on weekends or when I feel like something indulgent. And again, this isn’t like “a treat” but it’s a treat when you are trying not to eat the 17 mini snickers your husband keeps housing on the couch next to you (and then stands in front of the fridge for 10 more minutes picking things out.)
Seriously the amount of the candy that man can throw back is fascinating….
but I digress……. (damn men.)
BUT. Ya know, take all of this with a grain of salt.
SO. If you’re a regular reader you know I’m obsessed with my PB2.
So this week my sweets cravings are being cured by PB2 and a new addition: Lily’s chocolate chips.
I normally have Trader Joe’s dark chocolate wedges as a nighttime snack,
but thought I would try these for no added sugars. Benefits :
“Lily’s Sweets Dark Chocolate Baking Chips are made with fair trade certified dark chocolate and sweetened only with stevia, a plant-based sugar substitute. There’s no added flavor enhancers, making these tasty morsels all the better. Because of their short ingredient list, Lily’s Sweets’ chocolate chips are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.”
AND they have 2 grams of fiber per serving.
You get to have 60 chips per serving, but they are tiny chocolate chips, so it ends up being a heaping tablespoon.
So I just mix up by PB2 and top it with a heaping tablespoon of these, and it’s the perfect little nightcap.
Because that whole “have a cup of tea” thing is a bunch of BS if you ask me. Peppermint tea tastes nothing like a spoonful of peanut butter with chocolate chips and therefor will NOT satisfy the craving. But wonderful suggestion……
As with most things in my life (sorry UPS man), I order the chocolate chips on Amazon, but Whole Foods sells them too.
I googled and if you belong to Thrive Market (which I hear ads for all the time on my podcasts, but have yet to try) they are only $6.50 per bag so better than Amazon!
OH – Have any of you tried Thrive Market yet? What do you order if you do? I see lots of goodies but so far no reason to abandon having Amazon + regular grocery runs??
It’s definitely pricier than chocolate chips, but again, I’m just having them when eating clean and so the bags really last when you only have them a tablespoon or so at a time.
Oh, and I get the PB2 in the larger sizes off of Amazon, but all the grocery stores have the smaller containers now too!
