Today I am sharing details about our trip to Miami and my favorite thing I’ve worn in weeks!
I don’t have tons of photos because we were busy having a great time,
but I have a HUGE list of recommendations to share at the end of the post!
My favorite thing that I wore the entire weekend of course did not get photographed in Miami, but don’t worry – I made sure to put it back on and ride with my husband to Lowe’s and stand in front of a brick wall so you all could see it
(seriously…. all blog photos need to be within a certain radius to Lowe’s and everything is based around Lowe’s……. our first born will likely be named Lowe….. but I digress…..)
I wore this romper out on Saturday night (and also wore it out the following weekend in Arizona) and I love it so, so much! And the price is a total steal!
It’s comfortable but sexy and shows some skin – I love the cut out in the back!
ALSO, it’s vey easy to unzip and to hook the back button solo when you go to the bathroom alone.
Important romper things…..
Red Dress Boutique is a great resource for affordable clothes and one of my new favorites.
(and Southern girls, they ship SO fast because they’re based in Georgia!)
My earrings are so lightweight you can’t even feel them and add the perfect little bit of color.
// PRINTED ROMPER //
runs true to size – it is short so size up maybe if you want more length?
I am wearing a Small
// SIMILAR HEELS // PEACH EARRINGS 50% off // LEATHER CLUTCH + CROSSBODY, 45% OFF //

:: What we did ::
We headed down to Miami for a getaway with my sister and brother in law. The four of us haven’t done a trip solo since Kip and I got engaged so it was fun to go on vacation together for a few days. They had already planned to go to Miami and invited us to join along, so we booked a flight and a room just a few weeks beforehand!
Day One: We checked in at the Fontainebleu. There’s the hotel and then on the same property they have 2 towers of condos that you can get for a much better price, all huge with balconies! Check out VRBO and definitely go that route – saves tons of money and then you an have instacart drop off food and drinks directly to your conod! , went to the beach while the CRAZY pool party was going on at Fontainebleu, dinner at Baoli, out for drinks in a garden bar we found (no idea where, sorry!)
shop cover up and travel outfit here
Day Two : We went to brunch at Juvia, which we all absolutely LOVED! This is a rooftop bar with gorgeous views and excellent service. The brunch has a $55 option for starter, main, dessert and bottomless cocktails which is a total steal (especially for Miami prices!) . The food was SO good. And the bellinis were delicious. Highly recommend this!
Then we walked around Lincoln, grabbed drinks, and headed back to the hotel for some pool time. We went to dinner at Yardbird, which is a delicious Southern restaurant. Afterwards we headed out for drinks at Bodega – this is a casual taco spot, but they have a fake entrance that leads you into a huge bar. You walk up and hand the guy your ID and they make you take a shot of tequila on the spot before you can walk in! So fun.
Day Three : We headed down to the pool and beach for our final day and hung out there all day long. We made it out to the Delano for drinks (and stayed for a way too pricey dinner because we didn’t want to leave – should have just done drinks!) The SLS is right next door which is gorgeous (and was where Bethenny and Dorinda just were last week on the show!) There’s a bunch of pretty hotels right along this entire strip.
There were so many places I wanted to go and see but we wanted to do lots of what we do best – NOTHING – so we did that more than anything 🙂
The people watching is NOT TO BE BEAT. There’s a club in the Fontainebleu and oh. my. word. seeing everyones ensembles waiting in line to get into the club when we would get back at night was a highlight of the trip itself!

There were SO many great places that I compiled a list of recommendations for you all!
A friend that visits Miami frequently sent this :
Joe’s stone crab is like the best oldest restaurant in Miami. It’s only open like late October to first week of May or something (stone crab season). It’s seriously amazing. They don’t take reservations so either get there by 5:30 or plan to wait an hour or so at the bar. But it’s worth it. My mom was skeptical but now she won’t eat any other crab and we have to go there as many times as possible when she visits. If you don’t want to wait, they have a joe’s takeaway with some of the menu items plus other stuff.
Nikki beach Sunday brunch – $50 a person but usually pretty entertaining with good food. Also historic. On south pointe beach
Prime fish– tasty for dinner. Fried Oreos are the most amazing thing ever. Also have the best brunch I’ve been to in Miami.
Big Pink– cool old casual diner, open like all the time. Good food, on the beach, huge portions, wide variety.
Bazaar at the SLS hotel – amazing food
Delano– cool hotel. Great bars. Drinks by the pool or inside. Great espresso martini. Really cool ambience … also has a late night club under the hotel. Entrance from the back.
Any hotel around the Delano … cool for a night stroll, just walk into the lobbies and backyards to see a bunch of neat stuff
The Edition (hotel with multiple indoor and outdoor bars, and indoor ice skating rink bar) – always happening.
The Faena Hotel – never been there but heard it’s really something to see.
Juvia– rooftop restaurant on Lincoln road. Tasty
The forge – good food with “alive in wonderland” like vibe on the inside. They also have a Friday night happy hour with $50 bottles of veuve cliquot that comes with complimentary apps at the bar
Kiki – restaurant on the Miami river that is tasty
The Wharf – outdoor bar on the Miami river .. food trucks, cornhole, etc… used to be very casual and fun but in the last few weeks word must have gotten out somehow because now it’s one of the most hopping new places in Miami. People wear like club attire to go there at night which is comical since it’s totally not the vibe of the place …
East Hotel rooftop bar– great views of the city. Good for drinks, early because will get crowded later
Greenstreet Cafe in coconut grove – always has almost an hour wait. Red velvet pancakes. 25 minutes from the fountaine bleu
The Rusty Pelican– best view of Miami skyline, on the water. One of my faves. Probably 25 mins from the fountaine bleu
And a third, a friend’s co-worker that is Cuban and has lived in Miami his whole life sent these :
- There’s a great bar/restaurant/nightclub called “Ball & Chain” that is supper cool and exotic and in the heart of hat district. At night they have latin jazz, and music with bongo drums and the whole works. All around that place there are Cuban restaurants and art studios. Makes you feel like you left the U.S. And by the way, not everyone speaks English in Miami
Dine at Zuma
South Beach
- Lincoln Road mall: Outdoor mall with restaurants, shops and clubs. Very cool place with the locals
- Fontainblue Hotel: Great pool by the ocean, great restaurants and clubs, including LIV
- Lowes Hotel: more great action (night and day) pool and bars are great
- Brickell and Downtown Miami
- Area 31 in the EPIC building(great views!!! It’s in the Brickell area which is by downtown Miami. And there are other places nearby you can enjoy the nightlife)
ATRIO in the CONRAD building (Great views!!! Near Area 31)
Cap’s Place (here’s a twist….not in Miami. an old world Florida location that even many of the locals don’t know about. It’s located in Lighthouse Point which is a bit further North than Ft Lauderdale. But it’s a super cool place. You need to take a ferry out to the Island. Al Capone use to dine there.)
Juvia (located on Lincoln Road by South Beach. It’s a Peruvian restaurant. Once you eat you can stroll down Lincoln Road. Lots to do and see)
These places are all kinda expensive but memorable. Just don’t be in a hurry as everything in Miami is done on Latin time….which means slooooow.
Love the Broken Shaker and I live around the corner from Greenstreet in Coconut Grove! Your friend gave you some great recs glad y’all had fun. Next time go to Sidebar – you can shake it to some fun old school rap beats 👍🏻😉☺️
Yes we had the best time! So many other places I want to go to that I wish we had been able to fit in more!
