A collection of random thoughts for Tuesday……..
:: Milk Bar Cookies ::
Starting with the most exciting topic : COOKIES.
I had mentioned in the past that I watched Christina Tosi from Milk Bar in NYC’s episode of Chef’s Table and just loved it. You can watch all 4 seasons (I think there have been four?) of Chef’s Table on Netflix, and the most recent season is all about dessert and pastry chefs. They do the most incredible job filming, interviewing, and adding in music that you can’t believe you are watching a program about desserts.
Her episode was particularly incredible! I had been lucky enough to have some freshly baked cookies from Milk Bar when a college friend worked as a pastry chef at Momofoku back when I was young and we all were still able to do big reunion weekends the year after college. She brought a bunch of cookies with her on the plane and OH MY GAWD I couldn’t believe my taste buds. My other girlfriend has ordered their cakes for a birthday and they were equally insanely delicious.
When I watched the episode, I had the hugest craving for them! I immediately went online and ordered an assorted cookie box – one for myself and one as a thank you for a friend for taking us to an event!
They can ship within 4 days – and it is worth it!
My husband has a serious sweet tooth, but he doesn’t get excited over food the way every other sane human being like myself does. But even he was impressed with these! As with every thing else, I have to hide them from him so he won’t eat them all at once. (one didn’t make it to the photo….. I ordered a pack of 6!)
You can refrigerate them for up to a week or freeze them for up to a month!
I am desperate to get my hands on the crack pie.
Something tells me it will be better than my beloved Crack Cake……
You can order your cookies or cakes, or just drool over them, through their website here!
** update: I somehow got a code for $10 off your order –
use code pumpkinbread2938 at checkout!
So TREAT YO SELF or a friend!!!! They’ll love it!!!
:: My Husband thinks I’m addicted to Murder ::
We are watching The Staircase on Netflix, but I have found ANOTHER murder documentary series that I am enjoying even more. The Last Defense. It’s on Tuesday night’s on ABC – there have only been two episodes so far, and tonights third episode looks like the best one yet. Set your DVR’s and catch the first two on demand – I really think you’ll love it!
My husband said he was concerned that I am suddenly so interested in shows involving murder and reading books about murder, but I told him not to worry because I balance them out with hours of The Great British Bakeoff and Chef’s Table. And 19 hours of Bravo. And a couple hours of HGTV. And then way too many hours of whatever Bachelor program is on. And then ya know, like, one or two Lifetime or Hallmark Channel movies depending on the occasion and what I’ve got time for……..and then an episode or two of Friends just to cap it all of, because you’ve always got time for a Friends episode…….
:: The Breakdown ::
Speaking of murder….. I am likely finishing The Breakdown tonight!
(It took awhile to get into, unlike the authors first book Behind Closed Doors where I was hooked immediately.)
I’m excited to pick another book from my Summer Reading list to read next. We are traveling next week so I am hoping to get through at least two books next week, I just need to decide which two to read!
:: Young Living Essential Oils ::
Over the past few months I have been getting more and more interested in essential oils. I see people using them all over social media and I am always up for trying anything that is an “easy” healthy and beneficial product.
I have used tea tree oil for a little while now on pimples. Luckily my April breakouts calmed down and it was a fluke flare up that month – I think I was using too many products all at once?! But for the singular pimples that I still get I love using a dab of my tea tree oil to reduce it overnight!
We have also tried using a respiratory blend when we are congested, again just rubbing it between my palms and then smelling it. that sounds very strange when I type it, but you know what I mean!? It definitely helps with sinuses and I have loved bringing it on trips, too, to fight off any congestion.
For bedtime, lavender is the way to go for relaxation. I remember my sister always using a lavendar sleep spray on her sheets growing up. So when I’m being good with a nightly routine (never….. well…. rarely) I’ll rub this on my palms and sniff and then proceed to stay awake on my laptop or reading or thinking about that thing I did when I was 12 that doesn’t matter or something from 10 years ago…. ya know…..
BUT. I do love them! So I was so excited when a reader Lauren reached out to me and offered to send me some information on Young Living! I can’t wait to use the Thieves cleaning solution and so excited to get a diffuser and start diffusing the lemon oil. I love all lemon everything – it’s the easiest way to feel like I am detoxing even if it’s a lemon in a vodka soda.
There’s also a purification oil that you can use instead of flower food to make your flowers last even longer!
So now I need to get my hands on a diffuser, so I can stop rubbing my hands and huffing on them!
I found some options starting at just $13 below!
(I also found a car diffuser which is probably a must for my car……I wonder if they make an oil for road rage?!)
I’ll report back on how I like the oils!!
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
On a level of one to basic, just how basic am I that I kind of sort of maybe really love Skinnygirl Salad Dressings?!
I will make fun of Skinnygirl deli meats and especially the jeans all day long, but I actually really love both of these. They are SO good.
I just finished Not That I Could Tell and it was really good! Now I’m reading Little Fires Everywhere and loving it so far.
Thanks Sarah – I thought Not That I Could Tell looked great!! I heard great things about little fires everywhere, too!!!
The crack pie is everything!!!
And so is the thieves cleaner!
I’m so excited to use the cleaner, haha – why do things like that excite me?!
I am dying to get my hands on that crack pie!!!
Those cookies sound soo good, I need to order some. My husband has a very serious sweet tooth so maybe I’ll surprise him with them. I’m equally murder obsessed and I’m not afraid to admit it. I just finished watching The Staircase and will watch any Law and Order at any time, even if I’ve already seen the episode!

Yes I love watching Law and Order on my Southwest flights!! I just can’t watch anything too creepy when I’m alone haha!
Your husband would definitely love their treats – I really want the crack pie, but everything I’ve tried is delicious!
You can order their mixes (including for Crack Pie) on target’s website. I have no idea if the mix is as good as the original, but worth a shot 🙂
