I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was filled with dinner with friends, nursery shopping, and way too much purging/cleaning/organizing. But I’ll share more of that tomorrow!
Today I wanted to share something far more exciting than my ability to hoard notebooks and planners from 2012.
My favorite accessory of all time that I truly cannot live without: SUNGLASSES.
You may notice something about almost ALL of my photos : I am wearing sunglasses. That’s because I have the most sensitive eyes in the world, and even when it’s practically pitch black outside, I am squinting like it’s my job. Even when I am not wearing sunglasses, I wear them on the top of my head in a headband fashion. I always have a spare pair in the car and pairs scattered throughout purses.
I truly cannot live without sunglasses and especially because my eyes are so sensitive to the light I do not even THINK about leaving the house without sunglasses on.
(I’m the freak that where’s sunglasses when it’s raining, but guess what, I SQUINT unless I do!!!)
One thing that I have not been great about, however, is investing in quality sunglasses. And I am kicking myself for not doing it sooner!! I came across the brand Maho Shades when I was looking for a simple tortoise shell style frame that I could wear daily and they offer the perfect combination of style + quality with *polarized lenses*. How on earth did I go this long without polarized lenses?
Well…. actually I know how. Other pairs of polarized lenses I had thought about always lacked what I was looking for in terms of style and design. So Maho Shades is finally the perfect melding of all of the qualities you want, and most importantly are super cute. And these made me realize how much an investment in good quality pair of sunglasses is so, so, SO worth it.
I wore these every day when we were on our Christmas trip to Grand Cayman and have been ever since. A few design details that make these such a great pair of sunglasses :
The lens is made of a durable and scratch resistant material but it also is as clear and vibrant as the eyes can see, the polarization reduces any glare and keeps colors bright and crisp, it’s treated with a special layer to wick sweat or water, and most important of all it has the UVA UVB protecting your eyes from strain caused from glare and distortion. And eye strain for me means squinting which means WRINKLES people. No thank you.
The brand is all about being worn beach side and I can definitely attest to the anti sweat and water and that it lets you see all of the gorgeous colors around you perfectly!
So, they have a TON of different men’s and women’s styles but I’m about as basic as it gets and all I ever want is some tortoise shell. My favorite thing about this particular tortoise shell on the Capetown Caramel frame is that it is the matte finish! The frames are not heavy, have the perfect shape, and look classic and timeless.
Oh, and another important detail. I LOVE the CASE! I literally am OBSESSED with this sunglasses case. It could NOT be cuter. I don’t feel like any sunglasses ever come with a crazy cute case. I love how beachy the case feels so even though I have a LONG time until a beach vacation, I can look in my purse and get some full-on tropical beach vibes just looking at it,
But really. Don’t be like me and wait to invest in a great pair everyone needs – a good pair of sunglasses. And these are AFFORDABLE luxury. Toss those $10 pairs that aren’t doing you or your eyes or your wrinkles any favors and try a quality pair of adorable sunglasses and trust me, you and your eyes will thank me!
