I know this recipe is for a limited audience, but I had to share the recipe for the lactation cookies I’ve been eating. I made a big batch of the cookie dough and froze it the night before they arrived and I just made another batch last night again. They are SO GOOD.
I intended to use How Sweet Eats recipe originally. She makes delicious food so I knew her cookies would be no different. However I did a slight change of plans. Her recipe is healthier/cleaner and Kip was getting all of the ingredients I didn’t have for me – I didn’t want him to have to search for too many things at the store so instead I ended up modifying one of the recipes she linked as inspiration for her cookies. It’s a pretty basic cookie recipe with the addition of some key lactating ingredients:
*wheat germ, brewers yeast, and flaxseed
I’ve been lucky with my milk supply from the beginning, but I feel like these definitely help bump it up when I eat them, and people who haven’t had as great of a supply swear by them.
I’m hoping to try How Sweet Eats recipe in the future, but for now, the butter and brown sugar and basic yummy cookie ingredients all work for me!
I made this half with chocolate chips and half with butterscotch chips and I have to say that it is great with both but I am partial to the butterscotch chips!
I make a big batch of this and set out cookie sheets with parchment paper. Then I drop the dough down and let it freeze before sealing all of them up in a big ziplock bag to bake off 2 (or more……) each day or night to eat.
as always…. my food photography is top notch 😉

- 2-4 tablespoons of Brewers Yeast (I found this at Whole Foods)
- 2 tablespoons of Flaxseed Meal
- 1 tablespoon Wheat Germ
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda (yes like Arm & Hammers)
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes.
- Cream (beat well) butter and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well.
- Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the butter mix. Beat until blended.
- Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips.
- Add to butter mixture. Stir in oats then chips.
- Scoop or drop onto baking sheet. (The dough is a little crumbly)
- Bake for 10-12 minutes depending on the size of the cookies.
