I had been eyeing this recipe on Kathleen Barnes’ blog for some time when Kip asked for an Alfredo for dinner on Sunday. (follow her on instagram – she is hilarious and cracks me up!)
I am so happy I finally made it because DAYUM is it good.
(to be read in the voice of Joey from Friends in the episode where Rachel makes her trifle)
What’s not to like?
Butter? Good.
Cream? Good.
Cheese? GOOOOOD.
I added peas and sausage to mine and we LOVED it.
It’s the kind of delicious where you’re full but you keep going back for more until you make yourself sick and then you hate yourself but you still keep nibbling despite feeling sick because it’s THAT GOOD.
This sauce takes 10 seconds to make and would be great over any noodles and with the addition of any protein or veggies. I think next time I may put it with some tortellini…. or do some sundried tomatoes thrown in there….. the options are endless.
We all know I’m no food photographer, so just pretend there’s extra parm on there with some garnish of parsley, mmmk? Thanks.
Ingredients:
one package penne or rigatoni pasta
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- add whatever protein or veggies you like! I added ground sausage and 1/2 bag of frozen peas. I just added the frozen peas into the pasta for the last 5 minutes of the pasta cooking.
Directions:
Boil pasta per directions on package. Add heavy cream and butter to a sauce pan until melted – keep the heat low so it doesn’t boil. Stir in parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Add sauce to the drained pasta and let it sit until the sauce thickens. Top with fresh pepper, serve with your favorite protein or enjoy all by itself!
This looks delicious! It’s a must try for sure! Did you use spicy sausage ?
Yes! I did use spicy sausage and loved it! I used spicy turkey sausage but I think any protein you like will be great with it!
