Today we’re talking easy app’s and beauty hacks.
Because what’s better than a 5 minute face that doesn’t break the bank than DAIRY AND CARBS?!
I made my go-to Cheese Ring this weekend and also tried a new 3 ingredient appetizer that is DELICIOUS.
I have tried so many “fake” beauty blenders and always end up throwing them out, but finally found an *identical* option that comes with FIVE for $8.99.
In my experience every knock-off beauty blender pales in comparison to the real thing.
They never come close. They are hard as rocks or eat up all of your make up, or most importantly, don’t apply your make up well at all and your makeup looks awful. I’ve probably bought 5 of those orange knock-off blenders before finally admitting to myself they were NEVER gonna do what I wanted them to do.
I didn’t have high hopes when I ordered this set of 5 blenders off of Amazon but
I figured it was too inexpensive not to try out.
Oh. Em. Gee.
It is identical to the beauty blender in my opinion.
Now….. I’m sure if you take care of your Beauty Blender and clean it often and have it in one of those expensive carrying cases you don’t need to replace yours very often. But if that’s the case you’re also probably someone who washes your bras regularly. Um, no. No one has time for that.
These are not only incredible at applying your makeup just like a Beauty Blender, but you get FIVE for $8.99. So when you’re like me and they get nasty despite you “cleaning” them (cough: rinsing?) you can just move on the next. I have only had to use 2 in the 6 months I have had them (but again, I’m notttttt the beauty person to be listening to about cleaning your makeup brushes….)
Trust me. They’re amazing.
I mix my sunscreen (either supergoop unseen or eltaMD) with Maybelline BB Cream and a tiny bit of It Cosmetics CC cream in the pam of my hand and then apply it with this.
And one important thing to share – you need to *always, always* use these DAMP. I’m assuming you know that but a friend once told me she never knew that. You have to hold it under the sink and let it get wet and wring it out but still have it be damp when using. I squeeze it to let it absorb the water then wring it out and repeat that like 5 times under the running water to make sure the whole sponge absorbed some and then wring it out.
I know…. I’m such a beauty blogger.
Onto something I ACTUALLY know about:
Unhealthy + Delicious Appetizers that are Easy Peasy.
This cheese ring is a staple I have been making for years and years. Even in college when an appetizer was a Triscuit with cheese melted on top of it in the microwave (literally our favorite – then top it with sour cream and salsa. My friend called them “Labor Intensives”. We were true Martha Stewarts)….. but I digress…..
Even in college when we put zero effort into anything I could still whip this up.
:: Cheese Ring ::Â
Combine the following:
1 Cup Mayo
1 Cup Chopped Onion
1 Pound Shredded Cheddar
1 Cup Chopped Pecans
Mold and Chill (or chill then mold) and serve with Strawberry Preserves and Tollhouse Crackers.
I use a bundt pan usually to mold it, or just take it out of tupperware and use saran wrap to mold it into a ring. For out football party on Saturday I made little indentations to (attempt to) turn it into a football.
I buy the pre-chopped pack of onions at Publix to make this come together in 60 seconds flat.
Then refrigerate it and mold it into whatever shape you want.
Or put it into a bundt pan to mold it for you.
And trust me – you want the strawberry preserves with it. So yummy.
A new appetizer I made this weekend that I found on Pinterest is called
:: 3-2-1 Dip ::
And it’s as easy as that.
3 Bricks Cream Cheese.
2 Large Cans Rotel.
1 Roll of Spicy Jimmy Dean Sausage.
Brown the sausage, add in the cream cheese and Rotel and stir while the cream cheese melts until smooth and heated through.
Hope you love the app’s and beauty blender as much as I do!
I’ve made that same cheese ring every time we have a family get together for years now. It is delicious!!! We have always called it Plains Cheese Ring or Rosalyn Carter’ cheese ring because I have a few old church and regional cookbooks that call it that. So yummy!
That sausage dip is my JAM. BUT! I use turkey sausage (omg, i’m so healthy), only one can of rotel, but definitely two blocks of cream cheese….
