So many of you posted some great book recommendations on my latest instagram post,
so I wanted to round them all up here for you.
I just feel like everything I have read lately hasn’t been great?
I’ve liked books but it’s been a LONG time since I have loved anything.
I feel like I am the odd man out with liking books lately.
I just finished Little Fires Everywhere, and sure I liked it, but I mean…. it was fine?! I wanted more.
And prior to that I read Where the Crawdads Sing and yes, I liked it, but for how much people rave about it I was just very underwhelmed. Very. And people seem to be INSANE about that book so it must just be me?!
I will say that a lot of you recommended The Last Mrs. Parrish which I DID read last year and I DID really enjoy. So if you haven’t read that yet, I highly recommend.
Here is the instagram post where you had read all of the recommendations in the comments.
(and if you have a book you love, please comment there so everyone can see it!)Â
Things you all recommended that I have read and liked:
Behind Closed Doors
Last Mrs. Parrish
The Kind Worth Killing
Winter in Paradise
One Day in December
Things on the list I read and was NOT really into
(but again, other people seem to love, so maybe just me?!):
Woman in Cabin 10
Where the Crawdads Sing
Little Fires Everywhere
The Woman in The Window
The Wife Between Us (not as good as Last Mrs. Parrish and too many similarities?)
Luckiest Girl Alive
Books recommended in the post

I have had The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo on my list for so long and also have been wanting to read something of Colleen Hoover’s, so I will be starting with one of those next!
I go through about 30 books a year, and from your list, I have read the following and am leaving my comments about which ones were fantastic: (I was also very underwhelmed by Where the Crawdads Sing, and I did not love Little Fires Everywhere – it was just meh. I was surprised by all of the hype surrounding both of those books and wondered what was I missing that everyone else was enjoying.)
Behind Closed Doors
Last Mrs. Parrish
Where the Crawdads Sing
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – this was good, but Daisy Jones and the Six is better.
The Nightingale – one of the best books I’ve ever read
Before We Were Yours
Educated – another one of the best books I’ve ever read
The Alice Network
Normal People (this was good, but I preferred her other book Conversations with Friends)
Daisy Jones and the Six – phenomenal. Listen to the audiobook if you can.
The Great Alone – this was wonderful.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – not a fan of this author. At all.
We Were the Lucky Ones
The Light We Lost
Little Fires Everywhere
The Wife Between Us
Luckiest Girl Alive
Also, this wasn’t on your list, but one of the very best fiction books I’ve ever read is John Boyne’s The Heart’s Invisible Furies. I did not want that book to end.
Don’t read Verity! Super dark and twisted story involving twin girls. I also was not a fan of Eleanor Oliphant. I think Such a Fun Age from Reese’s book club us next on my list!
