I hate cleaning more than anyone.
I don’t mind organizing, and sometimes enjoy it, but CLEANING – like vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping, ya know, ADULTING….. it’s just not my thing. I don’t excel at keeping things spotless.
Oh, and the fakest of fake smiles in this picture because
1. I’m doing an at-home peel and literally can’t move my face right now
2. I HATE CLEANING.
and 3. it’s a stupid picture of me sitting on top of my washing machine. I realize this is the dumbest picture ever.
// spin mop // extra mop head // powdered tide // (dress is old)
Oh, and if you missed my instagram stories this past week our dryer broke and my husband completely disassembled it and re-assembled it with a new part and it worked. It was quite impressive (slash I hate that I’ll probably have to hear about how “I can fix anything Kipper” DID in fact fix something I really didn’t think he would…..
but I digress….
THE SPIN MOP.
Cleaning + Mops in general seem to be in a tight race against banana bread for the most talked about things on instagram during quarantine.
There’s been hot debate over Steam Mops or Spin Mops or the super powered Vacuum/Steam Mop combo.
The only thing that seems to be getting negative comments is the Shark Steam Mop (?) and it breaking or not cleaning well, but I DID get messages from a few people that do like it?!
People do seem to love love their steam mops (and it’s on sale for $79.99 right now if that’s the route you want to take!)
Ultimately I decided to go with the Spin Mop because
1. It’s the cheapest option. $29.99
2. Go Clean Co – an insane cleaning account on instagram raves about it
3. Carly also did a big poll on her IG and people messaged all about pros and cons and the Spin Mop was the hands down winner. A lot of concerns have come up about the Steam Mop damaging hardwood floors so it just wasn’t worth the risk in that department either.
So basically I just decided to choose whatever Carly chose because she did all the research for me {#lazy.}
and finally….. it’s a mop – I mean….
as long as it works, whatever. (Cough: and time will tell how often I’m really using it…)
because truly I HATE to clean and I will never be the person going to town on the whole house when I have free time.
I ordered the spin mop, one extra mop head, and powdered tide. The powdered tide and HOT HOT water is what Go Clean Co swears by and I must say, it did work like a charm. My floors are destroyed by the girls every day “eating” (aka throwing) food all over and it was QUICK and EASY. I did vacuum before mopping and that was way more effort than the mopping itself.
You only need a teaspoon of powdered tide for the whole bucket of HOT water, so I put some into a mason jar to make it easy to reach and put the rest of it up on a high shelf in our laundry closet.
I really was impressed though and I highly recommend!
I did the powdered Tide for my first clean because I know our house needed A SCRUB, but I try not to use chemicals (where I can) while cleaning. I’ve been using Branch Basics since January as a clean and baby safe alternative and love them. It’s what I use for all clean ups in the kitchen and on the floor after the girls eat. I got their Starter Kit and have been SO happy with it. I’m hoping to use their Concentrate with Hot Water for the next mopping I do later this week.
I was able to snag a code for you to use :
You can use code sarcasticblonde for 10% off of your order
OR you can get $10 off any order excluding the trial kit with this link.
And if your house is still completely disgusting and filthy with crap everywhere like mine usually is….
Don’t worry. You aren’t alone. Mine will look like that again in 24 hours I promise.
Over the weekend, in addition to cleaning (WOOF)
we spent lots of time outdoors with the girls since it was gorgeous and HOT.

The baby pool has been a hit so far and we moved it into the porch on Sunday to keep them completely out of the sun and let them just play in their swim diapers without worrying about sunscreen and their swimsuits.
// collapsable baby pool – we got the 48 inch! //
It collapses and folds up so easily and highly recommend!
