I haven’t done a Baby Favorites round up in a long time
so some of these items they have used and loved since they were still crawling/learning to walk
and some are recent favorites now that they are sprinting laps all around the house and climbing furniture! (HELP ME!)
Their favorite items are pretty much anything they aren’t allowed to be touching….like attempting to climb into the dishwasher and grab something sharp before I can get the door closed.
Or a box ….. or tupperware.
Yet we have 9,000 toys piled in our living room…. WHY?!?!?
BUT, in terms of actual BABY/TODDLER toys these are some favorites.
(I keep wanting to still say baby, but apparently they are toddlers?! Already?! In my mind toddlers have always been when they are speaking in full sentences but then again I knew nothing about kids before having the girls so what do I know.)
you can also find almost all of these in my Amazon Shop under BABY
Key items for summer: A baby pool + a water table.
We ended up getting this collapsable pool (yes, the pool with a dog in it. Everyone always says babies are similar to dogs right?!) and we love it. So easy to take to a friend’s put on the porch and store the second it’s done.
I ordered our water table online from Costco because Amazon was attempting to sell it for about twice the price (it must be a hot ticket quarantine item! Do not buy from Amazon, use someones costco card or check the prices in a google search!). The girls love it without water in it too just to pull toys in and out.
We set these up on our screened in porch more than we do in the yard since we’ve already had some crazy hot sunny days and the mosquitos in the backyard are out in full force. Highly recommend both!
My personal favorite items: these stroller clips/high chair clips/car seat clips/ you name it. They are little silicone bands that have made my daily walks with the girls 10x better. I strap their sippy cup and snack cup to the stroller and am no longer stopping every two seconds to pick something up. I wish I’d had them when they were younger for toys on the stroller and car seat.
When the girls were almost one we visited our friends who had a tent filled with balls (definitely get the ball pit balls, too!) They were IN LOVE so we ordered it on the spot. We’ll read books in there, fill it with the balls (and then they flip the tent/collapse it and the balls go EVERYWHERE but they love it). Now they love going and getting the balls and putting them back into the tent, too. It collapses and folds away so it’s easy to pull out throughout the day.
The tunnel is another favorite. When they were crawling they loved to crawl through it, and they still love it now. It also collapses flat to store. (I ordered ours from Ikea because it was the cheapest option I could find!)
The walker has been a hit for months and months. The console thing on it detaches so they can play with just that, it REALLY helped them learn to walk, and now they like to chase each other around at insane speeds racing from one end of the house to the other. (Luckily our neighbors daughter was done with hers so they each have one now – I try to never buy two of anything because they only play with a toy for so long, but for this I am very grateful to have two!)
This wooden cube toy has a bunch of different things for them to play with on it. It’s the only big/heavier item we have but it gets a lot of use and they play with it every day.
And finally these two little toys: the pop thing and the baby version of a fidget spinner (?). I don’t know what else to call them. These were a HUGE hit when the girls were 9 months old and we flew to the beach for Christmas. They one with circles you just pop the circles in and out and they loved it. And the other thing just swivels the discs up and down but again they really loved it.
(A huge tip for traveling that worked for us for road trips and flights – I never hit publish on my traveling with twins post because it was right when quarantine hit – is to give them a new toy or to hide a few toys they love the week before you go on the trip so that they seem “new” again and it keeps them busy on travel days!)Â
