I have had lots of requests to share the girls Halloween costume from last year.
(It was an easy costume choice because pajamas and robes are a way of life in this household.)
I made the wigs but trust me when I say, if I can do it, anyone can.
This isn’t even a how-to, because it’s THAT EASY.
Just wrap yarn on a roller and glue it to a hat. That’s about it!
I don’t have a creative crafty bone in my body.
but this hour of crafting will bring you the immense joy you have been searching for in 2020.
I promise.
The only thing cuter than a baby on Halloween is a baby in a bathrobe with a wig on, ya know?!
And then YOU also get to wear your daily ensemble of a bathrobe and it’s a complete win-win because you can “pretend” it’s your costume but really it’s what you wear every damn day of your life when you have twins.
or maybe that’s just me……..Â
All you need is :
A pack of foam rollers
A bundle of yarn (whatever hair color you’re going for)
A beanie – knit or felt hat (ideally the same color as the yarn)
A hot glue gun
(and the robe + slippers set to complete the ensemble)
* I got everything from Amazon – cheap, fast and easy – but you could get this stuff anywhere.Â
Oh…. before you begin. Make sure the hats fit their heads.
A VERY important step.
- Wrap one foam roller, seeing how long of a strand of yarn you need to wrap a full roller.
- Using that as a guide, cut all of the strips (10-20 at a time) so you have the yarn ready to go.
- I didn’t need to glue the yarn to the roller, just wrap it around and close the clamp on the foam roller.
- Laying the hat flat, place a strip of glue across the hat and attach the rollers to the hat.I did the rollers horizontal on the base of the hat and then vertical on the top. After the hat was covered and propped up, I filled in the top part of the hat with any holes.
and if you’ve read this post and are thinking…..
this isn’t even a How-To…. you’re just saying to glue stuff on a hat?!?!
YOU WOULD BE CORRECT.
So make the damn wigs and have the cutest kids on the history of the planet for Halloween.
Because I would give anything to go back to Halloween 2019 right now for MANY reasons,
and one of them is my children not knowing the word “No” and my ability to put wigs on their heads they don’t even notice and cannot remove.
