I’ve been wanting new nightstands for years.
We’ve been using the same end tables I found on clearance at HomeGoods probably close to 10 years ago, which have no storage or additional shelves at all.
The problem is that we can’t have anything wider than 20 inches with our King bed, and anything I have found that fits either I don’t love, or is extremely pricey, so I would rather just wait until maybe one day if we move I can splurge on a big side table to use as a nightstand that I love.
HOWEVER, the amount of stuff I like to keep next to the bed is INSANE. So the time has come for at least a drawer.
only the white nightstand in the middle was going to fit,
but I loved the look of the other two in the corners!
I really wanted something with at least one drawer and at least one shelf, ideally two of one and one of the other.
I did find a ton of great options that were 20 inches wide or under, but then I also realized that I don’t want it to be only 15″ deep….. I want some serious SURFACE AREA on there to pile my drink, book, laptop, snacks, 9,000 piles of junk.
My nightstand is like my purses – it’s just filled with all the things anyone could want at any time.
So essentially not only did it need to be narrow, I then wanted it to be deep to make up for that.
If that makes sense?! Like a 20 w x 24 deep was ideal compared
to a ton of cute 20 w x 15 deep options that I found.
I asked for your Nighstand rec’s on instagram and you all came back with so, so many! Thanks for your help!
The best thing is that changing out hardware can instantly change the look of a dresser and make an affordable one look much nicer – so don’t rule anything out if it just looks cheap from the plain silver knob!
(I am in love with Ballard’s hardware and will likely use these!)
My hack for finding the most affordable nightstand – use Pinterest.
Pin the nightsands you like to Pintrest and it lets you click on a magnifying glass and pulls up ALL similar images/products.
It will search for similar images/products and I swear half of the nightstands I found were on several websites and all at completely different prices (aka, the same piece might be way cheaper on another site!)
If you are in love with a super pricey nightstand, it’s a great way to see more affordable options that look similar or hopefully identical!
(if you also are searching from pinterest, you can scroll down and view “see similar” and it will do the work for you)
I rounded up a few of my favorites. Most of these are narrow, but I included some that are wider because I had already pinned them before realizing they weren’t going to fit.
Most are under $200, and many are right around $100!
many of these come in other colors and finishes, too
you can always swap out the hardware and make a piece look much nicer (especially inexpensive pieces like Ikea!)
I ordered two nightstands over the weekend after striking out at Nadeau,
but I’m unsure how the color will look in person so we will see.
(They’re like a natural/washed brown/tan kindathing that could look great or very cheap!)
I’ll share once they arrive – otherwise will return and get something else from here!
I never comment, but I have SO much to say about this! My husband and I just relocated from renting an apartment in NYC for 10 years to buying a house in Jupiter, FL and I’ve been on a serious hunt for nightstands. The previous owners must have had massive dressers rather than nightstands, because the wall mounted sconces are 20 ” from either side of our King bed. I think I need nightstands at least 30″ or it will look weird. Anyway, my suggestion is to buy nightstands that are returnable if you order online. I went in person to a high end furniture store and the $800/each nightstands had drawers that felt cheap and not worth it. Until I find something, I’m using an upside down bucket to put my water and kindle on. ISide note, we have those white Walmart $69 nightstands in our guest room and they’re good for the price!
