When I shared on instagram stories that my experience with the Always Pan was dismal,
my inbox was flooded with over 100 DM’s from people saying the same thing….
I haven’t gotten that many DM’s about something other than
twins escaping the crib (answer : mattress to the floor, sleep sack inside out!)
OR
husbands-doing-obnoxious-things
(answer : wine…. and know you aren’t alone that all men are the same.)
I wanted to find something non-toxic that worked.
And so far, one month and over 50 uses in (I think?!) ,
I think I’ve found something GEWD!!!
:: GREAT JONES PAN ::Â
I decided to try the Great Jones pan because it has a 30 day return policy. None of the other non-toxic options that I wanted to try had that option – so I figured I might as well start there.
THANKFULLY so did the Always Pan (their return policy is 100 days)
and I was able to get a full refund from them when I sent it back.
I’ve been using it for about a month, usually two times a day –
so I think I’ve used it and washed it probably over 50 times so far?!
I mostly have used the pan for eggs each morning for the girls and to griddle up my veggie burgers for lunch. I have used it for a few other meals here and there as well but I am not cooking very much these days….
..sooooo it’s usually used two times a day for those two items.
But so far it has been heavenly.
I haven’t used any oil or butter or anything and nothing has stuck.
Little tidbits of egg may “stick” to the pan if I’m busy fixing a meltdown from one of the twins when I’m cooking (aka keeping them from climbing the stove while I attempt to “cook”) but they come right off with a rubber spatula and wash RIGHT OFF.
which neeeeeever happened with my always pan after just a couple uses.Â
Great Jones has TONS of pots and pans and baking sheets, but in terms of a non-stick frying pan they have two options.
The Large Fry is 10 1/4 inch diameter and is $70.
The Small Fry is 8 1/2 inch diameter and is $55.
the always pan is $145 so already winning there……Â
I went with the Large Fry because I don’t have much of a need for a smaller pan and can use the Large for everything.
I have been SO SO happy with it so far.
It works…. well….
just as well as a pan should
(it’s A PAN. It’s 2o21. Why is non-toxic cookware so difficult to WERK?!
Just COOK THE FOOD and have it NOT STICK and wash it with soap and water and you’re good.)
I let it cool down and use some soap and water and it’s all clean.
WOW. Such a foreign concept, I know.
ALSO, I love that it is oven safe up to 500 degrees.
And I know it doesn’t matter, but a big thing I loved about the always pan was how pretty it was, and this
IS prettier than the average pan too so that doesn’t hurt.
Something important to remember about nontoxic nonstick pans :
they do have to be babied a bit more than your generic toxified non-stick
pan to keep the nonstick coating from wearing down.
Some care tips for ANY non-toxic nonstick pans :Â
low to medium heat
hand wash (but the Great Jones is dishwasher safe, too)
allow pan to cool before cleaning with soap and soft sponge
silicon and wooden utensils – no metal
avoid cooking sprays and EVOO – use butter or canola oil or avocado oil instead (things with a high smoke point)
and a tip to remove water marks, residue, or discoloration:
Boil water with a pinch of baking soda, rinse, and repeat. Then, mix a solution of vinegar and water (1:3) in the pot or pan and bring to a boil, rinse, and repeat. Dry with a soft towel. For tough stains, treat your pans with Bar Keepers Friend.
I’m going to include my previous post about the Always Pan
and other options for Non Toxic that I came across below, too!
Feel free to comment or DM me on instagram any other suggestions to add to this list!

:: BAMBOOZLED BY THE OUR PLACE PAN ::Â
Last week I shared that my Our Place pan was returned (you have 100 days to return it!) because while it was GORGEOUS and I loved the steamer basket oh so much, it VERY QUICKLY turned to crap with stuck on things that wouldn’t wash off and an area that wouldn’t get clean no matter how many times I hand washed and babied the heyl out of it…. leading to worse and worse stuck on food every single time.
SUCH A LET DOWN.
My DM’s were FLOODED – truly, I think over 100 messages from people – saying that the SAME THING has happened to them.
I’ve been researching new nonstick pans but the issue is that I want a NON TOXIC nonstick pan and I’ve found that this can be a common problem with a lot of them. In short, it seem like the non-toxic aspect makes it where they are more delicate in every damn way. It’s 2021…. can’t we just have a nontoxic pan that you toss in the dishwasher and is good as new?!
soooooooo I’m wondering if the route I take is finding the most inexpensive but nontoxic frying pan because it seems like non-toxic = not long lasting, even when handled with kid gloves.
Here are some that I have on my list (these are all Non Toxic)
again… haven’t tried these yet but this is what I have found or people have suggested!
SCANPAN || on uber sale right now from $214 to $99 for a set of 2 Fry Pans
GREAT JONES || 30 Day try and return policy, too! This pan is their Large Frying Pan + this is their Small Frying Pan
GREENPAN || They have large sets or you can get a set of 2 frying pans – a pink set with gold handles or a pretty blue set for under $100.Â
LE CRUESET || I have a big Le Crueset that I use for Chili or things like that and love it. I also have one of their frying pans… I need to reach for these more often!
CARAWAY || just as pretty as the Our Place pans
GLASS || Good old fashioned PYREX. I think we all use Pyrex…. it just doesn’t help in terms of a FRYING PAN. But since I see that on every website I’ve found when researching at least it’s good to know when baking and casseroling we are all scoring 100 in the nontoxic department.
