A group of us went to Charleston last weekend for a girls trip and we couldn’t have had a better long weekend. We truly didn’t want to leave! What I would give to move there or have a vacation property there!! We stayed at the cutest airbnb one block from King. We each had our own room, it had tons of space and charm, and was the perfect rental home for the weekend.
It faced one of the most insanely delicious bakeries, too – Browns Court.
We essentially went with plans to Eat and Drink and Shop our way through town, which we did 🙂 We barely put a dent in our restaurant list so I will add the other spots we wished we had been able to go to in this post, too.
….. a few of our meals…..
HALL’S CHOPHOUSE || this was my hands down favorite dinner (and I think everyones favorite). The food was insanely delicious, the espresso martini was the best I’ll possibly ever have in my life, and the service was impeccable. We were truly blown away. One of the best meals and dining experiences I’ve ever had – which is very important for mid to late 30 year olds haha.
CITRUS CLUB ROOFTOP AT THE DEWBERRY || I think this would be amazing on a summer day especially – we went before our flight for “brunch” but really we just shared a bunch of the dishes. All of the food was amazing and it’s such a pretty rooftop (and a gorgeous hotel)
FELIX || Felix was a great spot right by our airbnb. We didn’t make it there for any meals, but it was still a great late night cocktail spot.
CAMELLIAS PINK BAR || This isn’t a necessary stop, but we stopped by for a drink after dinner one night and it’s a cute spot if you have a group of girls who want a pretty space for a drink.
RAW 167 . BAR 167 || we had too long of a wait to get into Raw 167 for a lobster roll, but we walked around the corner up to the upstairs outdoor bar at Bar 167. I so wish we’d been able to have the lobster roll, but the rooftop was cute at Bar 167. (whatever I accidentally ordered as my drink tasted like eating potpourri…. but my friends drinks were good :D)
EMELINE ROOFTOP || another rooftop bar we went to with large indoor and outdoor space
ON OUR LIST BUT WE DIDN’T GET TO :
XIAO BAO BISCUIT // MELFI’S // TEMPEST // CHURCH AND UNION // VERN’S // CHUBBY FISH // CHEZ NOUS // FIG // POOGAN’S PORCH // HUTCH // and several more…. whoops…..
a few of the shops that stood out :
AMANDA LINDROTH : I didn’t even realize I followed her until I went into the store – which is insanely stunning. Her coffee table book is on my wishlist – its beautiful and VERY HEAVY so didn’t snatch it up while I was there.
BECKETT BOUTIQUE : they had such gorgeous clothes and accessories but I really fell in love with the artwork by Renee Levert Designs
ALA VON AUSBERG : this was tucked away on a little side street when we were wandering and it ended up being my only purchase for myself for the weekend. The artists prints are put onto clothing and everything is beautiful! I found the perfect blue + white print long tank dress and love it. gorgeous blue and white printed dress. It was such a special find. I’m already dreaming about wearing it on a getaway at the end of the year (or making plans specifically just to wear it sooner!!!!!)
CLAYTON + CRUME : a leather goods store where you can personalize everything. I got a monogrammed leather sunglass strap for my husband but there were about 50 things we all wanted (especially their iPhone case!)
CROGHAN’S JEWEL BOX : my friend has been hunting for a specific ring for anniversary/birthday/all the things and it was so fun to pop into jewelry stores with her, especially Croghan’s. I wear my moms gold bangles every day and I’m in love with anything quatrefoil and tried on this *perfect* diamond quatrefoil and gold bangle. I don’t have a special occasion to celebrate right now but this is on a future wish list!
….. and a million other shops + art galleries!
We stopped into Images Gallery — all of their photographs on metal and it made it look like they were lit up from behind — hard to show in a photograph, but in person it was unlike anything I’d ever seen before!!
We ended the weekend seeing Heather McMahan live – which was what inspired the entire trip. She was, as expected, hilarious and it was an incredible show.
I’m sure for our next trip we will want to try somewhere new, but even for a visit in January Charleston will be hard to beat.
If you’re looking for some Charleston recs, I there are great blog posts from Liz Adams, Grace Atwood and Megan Stokes to start compiling a list !
