// DAY DESIGNER PLANNER // MAKE SH*T HAPPEN AGENDA //
Wellllllllll I guess now that it’s the first FULL week of 2018 it’s time to lock it up
and pretend realize this is going to be my best year yet.
With the two weeks of traveling at the end of December, New Years hangover, and a first week adjusting back to life, I am finally ready to embrace the new year and all that comes with it!
Since last week Sunday and Monday were holidays,
I feel like this is the first real week back so technically I’m still on time (??)
editors note : see below for resolutions such as stop lying to myself, stop procrastinating, and start getting sh*t done in a timely manner 🙂
Oh… and don’t worry….. Watch Less TV is NOWHERE on this list.
:: Home ::Â
Organize, organize, organize – I am determined to make this the year that I get (and hopefully stay) more organized. Things look clean and neat when you walk in the house, but behind closet doors and inside drawers it is just mayhem always! On the rare times I organize a drawer or closet, it is back to dissaray in no time.
I’m hoping to tackle the following areas one at a time : Master Closet, Master Bathroom, Guest Bedroom Closet, Office/Guest Room, Office Closet.
Good Will/Consignment Purge – this will go hand in hand with the closets, but time to not only organize but do an annual purge.
Keep my Car Clean – I feel like this stresses my husband out because I really couldn’t care less, but it would be a nice gesture with him in mind 🙂
Cook One New Recipe a Week – I “make” dinner every night, but I wouldn’t necessarily consider it cooking. Lately we have been in a veggie burger with salad kick for dinners, so that involves chopping, but not much cooking. A goal will be for one new recipe per week.
:: Personal ::
Print more Pictures – I take so many pictures but I never print them. I want to get tons of pictures printed and put into frames for around the house.
Inbox Zero – My e-mail mindset is always to “Mark As Unread” so that I have whatever email as a reminder to do something, but it just ends up staying like that. I have no idea how I will accomplish this, but I really want to! Last year I got my e-mails narrowed down to TWELVE. But then they sprung back up to the 50 something range. I would LOVE to end each day with Inbox ZERO.
Read One Book Per Month – I was so, so great at reading a new book a month (or more) in 2016, but 2017 saw many more laptop evenings than books.
Sleep Hygiene – Year after year….. will I ever learn to embrace good sleep hygiene? I sure hope so. I was so exhausted this past week I was lights out at 10 and it felt GLORIOUS. But feeling tired at night is a rare occurance around here….. especially when my husband travels for work and I stay up SUPER late. and speaking of sleep…..
Get up Early a Few Morning (2) Each Week – This is a year after year goal as well….. I am not a morning person, especially after my late nights. I’m hoping that just two days a week I can get up early to either work out or crank out some blogging before work. It’s so nice to be done with a workout first thing in the morning!
Track all Expenses for an Entire Month – Everything. Every single thing. I of course check my online banking regularly, but I never pay attention to the total daily purchases of everything from gas to groceries to smoothies etc. I’m hoping the month will turn into a regular habit and the same way that I track my workout I will write down my daily spend (my planner below has an area specifically for it!)
Savings – Going hand in hand with tracking expenses, stick to my savings goal per month.
Decorate – A house is never done, but I feel like we definitely need to get more art on the walls, especially in the two guest bedrooms.
:: Fitness ::
Morning Workouts – 2017 was a great year for me becoming dedicated to a regular fitness routine and I feel so, so much better every day because of it. Along with my “wake up early 2 mornings per week”, I want to designate at least 1 morning per week to a pre-work workout. I would love if that number went up to 2 or 3, but I am going to be realistic and start small.
Diversify Classes – Keep up the spin classes, but get back into Pure Barre and Sculpthouse and keep changing up classes! Last year’s resolution was to try new classes and I found Blast which I love and Sculpthouse too.
Do another 31 Day Challenge – I did a 31 Day Challenge January-February of last year and loved it. 31 Days of working out for 30-1 Hour+, with 5 classes per week. It really kicked my butt into gear, but most importantly it made me realize it is NOT that hard to fit in a workout on a daily basis.
:: Blog ::
Photography : I’d love to take a Photography Class to really learn how to use my camera. I have been watching some YouTube videos and reading posts to try to get better with it.
Productivity + Planning Ahead – This is all about my procrastination again…. I love blogging so much, and I love writing things the night before, but I need to work on really putting together an editorial calendar and getting work done in advance.
Proofread – ya know…. I get tired of reading my own nonsense!! and I just go to sleep….. especially with Coffee Talk it’s just ALL over the place
Get more Personal – This is an intention every year, but I shy away from it every time (no pun intended but I just PROOFREAD and saw it :)) I share photos and weekend plans and what I’m doing, which yes is a lot, but I don’t open up the way others do and I know those are my favorite moments when reading other blogs that I love. I’ll keep trying!
alright but moving on………Â
OH WAIT…… and of course…..
:: 2018 Planner : The Day Designer ::Â
I am a planner NERD. I love notebooks and planners and markers and stickers and basically anything else that makes it look like I have my sheyite together when really I am just still procrastinating and doodling with colored pens.
The past two years I have used The Simplified Planner and really loved it, but I thought I would try something new to change things up.
This year I got The Day Designer Daily Planner – Original Mini . The mini version is basically the same size as the Simplified Planner, so I can’t even imagine how big the full size version is. I’m planner obsessed. I always have 2+ planners, one for my agenda and one for my food and workout log. This year I also have a THIRD planner to keep track of blog notes and ideas separately.
This year of course I am hoping to not only look organized, but actually BE more organized.
You can order The Day Designer from their website, but they also have all of the planners – the full size original or the “mini” like mine – straight to your door in 2 days from Amazon! (and the mini is like a full size…. it’s almost the same size as The Simplified Planner is at about 7×8.
It comes in a gorgeous blue box with gold lining, and then the planner itself comes in this storage box. I’ll probably use this box for reciepts and things like that since it’s too nice to throw out (see above with organized hoarding and not liking to throw things away…..and needing to purge….. yet keeping this box……)
A feature I love is that they have a full page for notes on the tab for each month, so you can jot down important tasks for each month all in one easy to access spot.
A must for me with planners is to have a full page for each day. I like to write down anything and everything so I love that there is enough space for that. A few features each day, all of which I love :
– A top three, to list the top 3 things for that day,
– A full to-do list
– A spot for what is due that day
– Dinner
– Dollars
– Don’t Forget
– Daily gratitude
– A daily quote
– A spot for notes
You clearly can fit so much all on one page!
Saturday and Sunday are combined into one page.
I love that there is a spot at the bottom of this page for a glance at the week ahead so you can jot down any additional things for the next 7 days, too.
Thanks for indulging me in my nerdy planner love 🙂
alright 2018……
I’ve got my three planners, my fancy fine tipped colored markers, and what I think is a small but hopefully enough amount of determination to crush my goals…… so,
