hope you all had a great weekend 🙂

I just have to share one dumb story, because I think it is fascinating.
Kip and I had different flights to different airports coming home yesterday.
I had a 4:20 flight back and he had a 6:00.
I was going into Midway and he flew into O’Hare.
I was delayed and he hopped an earlier flight, and we landed ONE minute apart.
Then…. we arrived in cabs in front of our apartment at the EXACT SAME TIME.
It was seriously amazing.
I mean really….. what are the odds of that happening???!!!!

K….. anyways……

I headed home Thursday after work to Atlanta for lots of wedding planning and a joint bridal shower with my best friend.

It was a wonderful weekend!

I’ll post all the pictures on Wednesday!

This pashmina was a gift from the shower and, shocker, I am in love.

I’ll be wearing it daily I’m sure.

holidays and monograms

as you read this, I am en route to work in the coldest weather Chicago has seen in decades.

-52 with the wind chill.

there are no words.
I’m too scared to take the time starting my car so I’ll be walking it and taking the train – so about 20 minutes outdoors.

hopefully I make it there alive….

It’s back to reality after the holidays, new years, and a lengthy time off work.

we went to a Blackhawks game with the best seats I’ve ever sat in

celebrated Christmas with Kip’s family

went on an incredible trip just the two of us to Cancun

I’ll post more pictures of the trip later this week!

anything to remind me of warm weather is necessary right now

and most important, I finally, finally, finally got to meet my sister’s baby boy.

He was born a month early, right after I flew back to Chicago after Thanksgiving, and I was unable to get back home until after Christmas.

Anyone that knows me knows I am not really a baby/child person. I’ve never really been around babies at all, especially newborns, but I completely understand the obsession now.

He is the sweetest little thing I have ever seen and I just wanted to munch on him all day long.

he is so tiny, but has the longest legs – he sleeps like a pretzel with his legs up by his face at all times.

not technically a monogram, but the gold christmas bow earrings and my monogram necklace are my staples during the holidays.

this monogrammed scarf has been on heavy rotation.

it’s from the mens section, but whatever.

this monogram-esque hat from J. Crew that I’ve had my eye on for awhile arrived.

I got it during the black friday sales and loved it for so long, but now I can’t tell what I think?

is it cute? thoughts? can’t decide if I should return it or not.

my friend got me this amazing clutch with my future monogram on it.

I am obsessed – and maaayyyyy be using it prior to getting married.

and the gift that has been used every day since christmas, this monogrammed robe.

it is the comfiest thing in the entire world and has made our freezing apartment much more bearable.

I’ll have more exciting things later this week when I’m back into the swing of things.

that’s all I have for today. I put on eye cream last night before bed (I’m trying to be all “adult” and adopt a bedtime beauty routine … annoyingly wash/moisturize/special creams before bed that are probably doing nothing for me)….. so, naturally the eye cream got in my eye when I rubbed it a minute later. and proceeded to burn the crap out of my eyes so that I just gave up on my planned evening in bed on online christmas shopping, cruising Pinterest, and writing a post.

riddle me this: why is it an EYE cream if when it gets in your EYE it feels like fire?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

One of my best friends got engaged on Friday!

I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!

(Plus… both of their initials are JG, which obviously I love, and they will have the prettiest jGj monogram ever. these are clearly important things when selecting a mate.)

Four of my closest friends will all be getting married along with me next year, and it makes the upcoming year 10x more exciting and more fun with all of the great things going on in their lives.

Speaking of engagements,

I finished The Engagements and I really loved it.

It’s not a wedding/engagement book. It’s more about relationships and tells the story of several different couples/families/people throughout different decades and I thought it was a really good read.

I now am reading What Alice Forgot (also ordered The Husband’s Secret) and it is really great.

I can’t wait to keep reading it every night before bed.

Thank God these last two are making up for how horrible The Interestings was.

I finally have gotten rid of my iPhone 4 that I have been wanting to hurl against a wall for at least 8 months.

So now that I have a shiny new 5s, please dear Lord don’t let this be the time I shatter my phone.

Pleeeeeeeeease.

So, I am in the market for a new monogrammed iPhone case!

There are too many options out there I don’t know what to choose!! Ah! So feel free to comment with any sites that have your favorites.

The one I had for two years had a lip on the side so everytime I dropped it (everyday) it kept the screen from hitting the ground and shattering.

Anything with that would be an added bonus 🙂

I received these monogrammed wine glasses from Keeley Kraft as an engagement gift and I am obsessed!

When I was looking through her blog, I came across her trip to Giraffe Manor in Africa and it has been all I have been thinking about ever since. I read the whole post and it sounds like the trip of a lifetime.
